THE RIVER
The Boise River runs approximately 100 miles through Southern Idaho
and is divided into the North and South Forks. This property is located
on the South Fork of the Boise River as it travels through the communities
of Boise, Eagle, and Star.
The Boise River has been diverted for irrigation canals and several dams
were built as part of the Bureau of Reclamation’s Boise project.
The major projects' initial completion dates were:
• 1909 - Boise River Diversion Dam & New York Canal
• 1915 - Arrowrock Dam
• 1950 - Anderson Ranch Dam - (South Fork)
• 1955 - Lucky Peak Dam - (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)
These dams serve the Treasure Valley by providing hydroelectricity and agricultural water. The dams also help flood control. In the spring, the Boise River is extremely elevated, but the home and developable property are out of the floodplain.
Treasure Valley residents enjoy floating and fishing the Boise River, but this section of the river is extremely private. The Boise River is home to mountain whitefish, rainbow trout, bass and catfish and is popular for spin and fly fishing. Deer, wild turkeys and a variety of wildlife are regular visitors to this property.
